Quote: ‘Ottawa transit users demand accountability and transparency in the decision-making process’ – from a letter sent to Kitchissippi resident Mayor Mark Sutcliffe by the Ottawa Transit Riders. The group recommends that the Transit committee needs representation from ParaTransit users, members of the general public, students, bus drivers, and people from the rural areas. City staff, who came off so glowingly in the O Train inquiry, are recommending that there be no representation from the public on the Transit committee, only City councillors. [Ottawa Transit Riders]

🎄Christmas t-shirt deadline is Dec 10

If you are considering an ottawan historic logo t-shirt as a gift, and frankly why wouldn't you, we really don't feel comfortable accepting orders after December 10.

We'll still take the orders after Dec 10 of course, but they may not arrive before Christmas.

WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT

▪️The man who lead the public consultations for a new police chief has been charged with forgery. The head of Hefid Solutions is accused of forging an executive’s signature on letters from Somerset Community Health Centre, requesting funds for his other project, African Canadian Association of Ottawa. Ottawa Police refused to get involved as the man did not personally benefit. The Ottawa Police paid $76,000 for Hefid Solutions’ service. The Ottawa Crown Attorney’s office is now handling the case. [Ottawa Citizen]

▪️The woman in Paul Anka’s 1957 hit Diana has passed away at age 83. Diana Ayoub, 18, was the teen crush of Paul Anka, 16, when he wrote the song but she says that she had no idea in advance. As for later life, she said ‘I got all the notoriety and none of the benefits’.  [CBC] [‘Diana’ on YouTube]

▪️Winter registration is now open at Ottawa’s arts and recreational programmes. [City of Ottawa]
