HELLO OTTAWA

  • Neighbourhood Arts Ottawa is looking for professional artists for residence – in City government.
  • The term is 18 months and it's a paid gig – $40,000. (Although, at 18 months, that works out to $26,000 per year)
  • The idea was inspired by the New York Sanitation department, which created the first – if unofficial – artist-in-residence.

    🎭 What a Joke

    •  Le Troquet comedy club in Gatineau has been booking comedian Sonia Bélanger since June – but she doesn’t exist. Bélanger’s absence is announced at the beginning of every show and is considered a running joke by the owner. Montreal comedians Emna Achour and Coralie LaPerrière say the fake billing is a response to their campaign over the lack of female comedians in Québec clubs. The picture used is generated by artificial intelligence. (Sabrina Jonas and Kwabena Oduro at CBC

🏒  Michael Andlauer to buy Ottawa Senators

      •  Sure, we knew that Michael Andlauer was buying the Sens but now a National Hockey League committee has approved it.  The paperwork is still being done but once that is finished, the League must officially approve the purchase, which has not happened yet. So yes, Andlauer has purchased the team, but it ain't done yet.

Another tidbit: we knew that sellers Anna and Olivia Melnyk, Eugene Melnyk’s daughters, would retain a 10 per cent share, but other partners are local businessman Jeff York who owns a piece of Farm Boy; the Malhotra family, who own Claridge Homes; Oshawa Generals owner Rocco Tullio; and Paul and Michael Paletta of Burlington-based Alinea Group holdings.
