WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT

▪️The developer of the Heron Gate apartments has signed a binding social contract with the City. Hazelview Investments has been redeveloping older apartments buildings in Heron Gate with new, modern flats, much to the objection of people who already live there. The existing apartments are some of the city's least expensive to rent. The agreement binds the landlord to build affordable housing units and to find new homes for anyone displaced by demolishions. [Stittsville Central

▪️Ottawa Transit Commission chair Allan Hubley has refused a request from councillors for an emergency meeting.  Councillors Diane Deans and Catherine McKenney requested the meeting, following a week where the Confederation Line was closed due to a derailment and several double decker buses needed to have their steering fixed after one bus ended up in a ditch. Hubley denied the request saying that OC Transpo chief John Manconi had it all in hand. [Ottawa Citizen]

▪️ After 60 years, the Rockcliffe Flying Club may be closing. The East Ottawa non-profit, a former Royal Canadian Air Force field, is suffering due to a downturn in funds due to COVID-19. The Club specializes in small craft. [CTV] [Go Fund Me]
