HELLO FRIDAY Dow's Lake on the Rideau Canal has re-opened. You can rent paddle-boats, canoes, kayaks, and stand-up boards right in the centre of the city. As our on-demand culture has been put on hold, you need to reserve in advance. But what a way to spend a day downtown. [Dow's Lake] A little further down, north of Mooney's Bay, Hog’s Back Falls, a series of waterfalls dividing the Rideau Canal and the Rideau River, is worth a visit. In other good news, 15 blocks of Bank Street – from Queen to Flora – will be open to pedestrians and cyclists tomorrow, and every Saturday, for the next 15 weeks. However, the three blocks of Bank Street in the Glebe will not be closed to cars because the businesses there don't believe pedestrians and cyclists are worth the inconvenience to motorists. We'll see if minds change this weekend. We'll see you Monday – Martha and Darren |
