Issue 570 Volume 3 Number 67
It’s Wednesday, July 13, 2022 and, when we get back to Ottawa, we’re going to walk over this swaying bridge in Renfrew.
Food + Drink Update
▪️The Stolen Goods Cocktail Bar has opened on Spark Street, and both the Citizenand Apt 613 are agog over the cocktail innovation.
▪️The King Eddy has opened a new pizza joint in their former space, Lil Z’s, and the Citizen says it is a worthy addition to the top tier pie space occupied by Heartbreakers and Farinella.
▪️Ottawa magazine wants you to get back to the land and eat at Boreal Farm in Low, Juniper Farm in Wakefield, and Back Forty Artisan Cheese in Mississippi Station.
▪️There is a new weekend-only restaurant in Renfrew, Indian Curry Pot. The chef/owner holds down a full time job in IT but opens his restaurant weekends to bring Indian cuisine to the area.
▪️It's Free French Fry day and you can get free chips at New York Fries, Wendy’s, and MacDonalds but, honestly, you can't throw a Yukon Gold without hitting a chip stand in Ottawa. Eat locally and pay the pittance.
▪️Today’s special at Atomic Rooster is 2 for 1 Burger & Fries. DJ Andrew will be spinning tunes from 10:00pm to 2:00am. 303 Bank Street.
▪️Luxe Blooms, Ottawa’s first flower cafe has opened on Dalhousie, combining floral arrangements with coffee, pastries, and even cocktails. Now, that’s a collab. 254 Dalhousie St.
▪️Job alert: Tell your hospitality friends that Metcalfe Hotel and its restaurant Cocotte Bistro are holding a job fair July 15th (3:00pm to 7:00pm) and July 16th (10:00am to 2:00pm), to hire all positions for the grand reopening in August. This won’t be your typical resume drop off, though; there will be tunes from a live DJ, gift bags, and mocktails. 123 Metcalfe Street.
Deal of the day
▪️Bella Women’s Consignment is offering up to 50% off some summer items online and in the shop.
We'll see you tomorrow. – Martha and Darren
