Quote: ‘Honestly, rooting for the Sens could easily be a top 5 worst decision I’ve ever made. I’m from [we're deleting the F word so we don't get put into spam] Kansas, USA. Why did my dumb ass decide to cheer for a team in Ottawa Canada 15+ years ago? I was a child. I did not know better?’ – Ottawa Senators fan Kale Baire, who lives in Ashland, Kansas (pop. 900). He chose the Sens to root for at age 11 because he had never heard of them before.  [CBC] [Tweet]

WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT

▪️The Canadian Automobile Association is looking for nominations of Ontario's Worst Roads. Last year, Ottawa did well, coming in at Number 2 for Carling Avenue. There's no reason we can't make it to the top spot this year. [CityNews] [Nominations]

▪️A man has been arrested for the attempted arson of an apartment building in February. The apartment on Lisgar Street was located in the Trucker siege zone and many wondered if it was connected to that event however police say the arrested man was uninvolved. Police are still looking for a second suspect. [CBC

▪️The City of Ottawa has sent its approval of Chalk River's nuclear waste disposal plan. Chalk River Laboratories, upriver past Petawawa, wants to store waste with low-levels of radiation. Ottawa is supportive, but wants to be informed of spills and access to their Ottawa River data. [Ottawa Bulldog]

▪️The Fire Service and the Humane Society have combined forces to distribute pet window stickers. The new stickers can indicate how many pets are inside and, unlike old versions, can be updated as your house fills with more and more animals. [CityNews] [Pet Stickers]

▪️The New York Times has featured Icelynd, the 25 acres of forest skating in Stittsville. The season is closed but the story has lovely pictures. [New York Times]
