| The City’s most opaque body, the Committee of Adjustment, also meets tomorrow at 1:00 pm. | | WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT | 🖥️ Federal Public Employees | ▪️Federal Public Employees have been barred from watching Hulu, Disney+, Netflix, AppleTV+, Amazon Prime Video, and Crave on work computers. The ban was first announced by Shared Services Canada, which provides most Internet services for government agencies, in November. ‘Streaming services are not considered work tools and offer no business value for the Government of Canada’, the agency said in a statement. YouTube and Facebook are not barred. The CBC’s streaming service, Gem, was not mentioned so we emailed Shared Services Canada to find out if it was on the banned list. We’ll let you know when we hear back. | | Kate McKenna at CBC |

| ➕ Related The Ottawa Citizen’s new advice column, Public Service Confidential, has launched but without any juicy bits. It’s a great idea for a column, and we can hardly wait for Federal public employees to start sending in the hard questions. Today, however, it’s about ‘How to rethink success in public service’. | ✏️ Surveys | ▪️The City wants to know your communication preferences, be they social media, email updates, or public engagement opportunities. The survey asks how you are receiving City info and which social media platforms you use. Interestingly, it did not ask if people see – or want – advertisements in local media. | 🏒 Michael Andlauer | ▪️Toronto billionaire and owner of the Sens, Michael Andlauer, has sold the Ontario Hockey League’s Brantford Bulldogs to Edmonton Oilers star Zach Hyman. Andlauer bought the Belleview Bulldogs in 2015 and moved them to Hamilton. In 2023, due to renovations of their arena, the Bulldogs moved to Brantford, promising to stay at least three years. The sale price is unknown but another Ontario Hockey League team, the Niagara IceDogs, was sold for $20 million. | | Brian Smiley in the Brantford Expositor |
