I know you’re all having sex.’ Most of us were like, please let me die in this chair.’ – ‘Rachel’, a 2006 student at Philemon Wright High School in Gatineau, who had fake nurse Brigitte Cleroux as a teacher, another job in which she had no qualifications. This story is quite good – Cleroux did a lot more than pretend to be an Ottawa nurse. [Maclean’s]

WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT

▪️Local mom and pop business Shopify plans to split its stock 10 to one. The stock split is part of a plan that will allow pop, CEO Tobi Lutke, to increase his voting power from 33 per cent to 40 per cent but new limits mean he can't transfer the new shares, nor keep them if he ceases to be CEO. Investors often like share splits because – sometimes, over time – each share returns to the original value. Do not read the ottawan for investing advice. [CBC]

▪️Chuck and Camille will be visiting Ottawa in May. The Heir to the Canadian Throne and his wife will visit us, the Northwest Territories, and Newfoundland as part of the the recognition of Queen Elizabeth's 70 years as our Sovereign. [Ottawa Citizen]

▪️As it is spring, the CIty has published a lot of good advice to on how to avoid the killing of cyclists. Not mentioned is the simplest and best way: separated bike lanesNo one worries about killing cyclists on dedicated bike paths. [City of Ottawa]

▪️Trucker siege co-organizer Tamara Lich has put that crowdfunding to good use: she hired top Ottawa lawyer Lawrence Greenspon. We can't blame her. Get the best lawyer you can afford, peopleLich has previously shared a lawyer with co-accused Chris Barber. [Ottawa Citizen]

▪️Someone has stolen a trailer full of throwing axes belonging to LumberJaxe Ottawa. If you see a trailer full of axe-throwing paraphernalia, let them know. There is a reward. [CTV]
