The Ottawan

HELLO OTTAWA

Ottawa Police Services chief Peter Sloly resigned today. Deputy Chief Steve Bell is the acting chief, but a search will be started for a replacement.

At today's Police Board meeting, it was confirmed that right now there are 100 Trucker protestors and 360 vehicles. As a comparison, during the Vancouver hockey riots, 938 Vancouver police officers quelled a riot of 150,000 people.

Despite the lack of control over the Police Service, the Police Board is continuing to plan on limiting public questioning of the board and whomever is chief at Police Board meetings and push detractors into formal roundtables.

The staging areas are still operating, despite a State of Emergency from the City, Province, and Country. Buzzfeed walked in and took some photos.

Also, the City was granted their injunction against unlawful fires, discharging fireworks, causing noise, blocking and damaging highways, and idling vehicles yesterday. None of these are new powers, and the CIty could have enforced them at any time. They are not being enforced today, with the injunction.

Yesterday, we mentioned that the crowdfunding site for the Trucker protest was hacked an the names released. More than half of the donations came from Canadians, most of the rest from the US.

One of those donors was the owner of Stella Luna Gelato, who donated $250 to the Trucker protest. Now that it is public, she says that she regrets it.

So, say hi to the new boss, same as the old boss.

We'll see you tomorrow – Martha and Darren
