🗳️ Gatineau City Hall - One year after resigning as mayor of Gatineau, France Bélisle has published a book about why she did it. At the time, Bélisle said it was a toxic atmosphere but would not take questions. Bélisle says there was a conflict with other elected officials, and she was there for duty but some others were there for power. She says that she wrote the book to help other elected people ‘not to feel so lonely’, like she had felt. Her book, L'heureuse élue: Témoignage d'une mairesse démissionnaire – ‘The lucky one:
Testimony of a resigning mayor’, was published this week.

It was part of a question, not the answer, but THE OTTAWAN didn’t know Barrhaven was named after farmer Mel Barr. Also, Martha’s mom was delighted to hear mention of the Britannia on the Bay streetcar, a line she rode many times as a teenager. |
