WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT ▪️A Crown Prosecutor played on the same soccer team with the jury foreman on a murder case. The attorney and the foreman both played on a Carleton adult soccer league team while the trial was conducted in September. Eventually, the two figured it out and reported it. The defendant has no plans to ask for a mistrial as he was convicted on the lessor charge of second degree murder and doesn't want to push his luck. [Ottawa Citizen] ▪️The National Capital Commission wants $175 million to fix all the official residences, including 24 Sussex Drive. All official residences – including Harrington Lake (country residence for the Prime Minister), Stornoway (home of the leader of the Opposition), The Farm (for the speaker of the House of Commons ) and 7 Rideau Gate (guest residence for foreign officials) — need repairs but 24 Sussex is the one in the worst shape, requiring $35 million in repairs.
