The Ottawan

HELLO OTTAWA

Probably the smartest thing to do this weekend is stay inside and stay warm. If you insist on getting some fresh air:

▪️NarCity recommends a walk along the Voyageurs Pathway, near the Deschênes Rapids, to see the inunnguat ice sculptures.

▪️Apartment 613 suggests an urban walk through Little Italy and Chinatown

▪️The Winter Market continues at the Aberdeen Pavilion on Sunday, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.

▪️The Kichi Sibi Winter Trail is open. The Mill Street Brew Pub has free hot chocolate and free parking to trail users.

If you see someone that needs winter shelter, call 311. The City has listed shelters available here.

We'll see you Monday– Martha and Darren

▪️The National Capital Commission wants $175 million to fix all the official residences, including 24 Sussex Drive. All official residences – including Harrington Lake (country residence for the Prime Minister), Stornoway (home of the leader of the Opposition), The Farm (for the speaker of the House of Commons ) and 7 Rideau Gate (guest residence for foreign officials) — need repairs but 24 Sussex is the one in the worst shape, requiring $35 million in repairs. [Ottawa Citizen]

▪️Local mom and pop business Shopify has partnered with company to access Chinese consumers. The partnership with JD.com will let businesses that use Shopify for the ecommerce to be available as a sales channel in China. [Ottawa Business Journal]
