    WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT

🗳️There are now 91 candidates running in the Carleton riding, one of whom is Conservative Party leader and incumbent Pierre Poilievre. That's an additional 12 candidates over what we wrote yesterday. The deadline has now passed for announcing candidacies. – Natasha O’Neill at CityNews

⮑ A decision to move from the crisis-laden Federal payroll system, Phoenix, has been delayed yet again because of the election. – Matteo Cimellaro in the Ottawa Citizen

🏒 Ottawa Charge forward Zoe Boyd has been suspended for one game for an illegal check to Boston Fleet forward Alina Muller last week.  – The Canadian Press

🚌 The Ottawa Transit Riders group wants the public to show support for a plan by River ward councillor Riley Brockington. Brockington has made a proposal for the upcoming transit committee meeting that ‘OC Transpo create a plan to achieve bus reliability targets agreed to by OC management, as part of a common benchmark used by the public transit industry’. The idea is that with real data, City Council and the public can understand if OC Transpo is performing as it should. – Ottawa Transit Riders

⚖️ A group of condo owners in the Glebe want a judge to dismiss their condominum board and appoint an administrator. A majority of the units are owned by a company that also owns a nearby retirement home, resulting in the company having effective control of the board of directors. The residents argue that their condo is being run as an ‘offshoot’ of the retirement home. The company disagrees with the rebels. – Andrew Duffy in the Ottawa Citizen

    DAILY POLL

    The Poll

Yesterday, we asked, ‘Which professional sports team in Ottawa do you support the most?’

    43% Ottawa Senators

    18% Ottawa Charge

    17% Ottawa Redblacks

    1% Ottawa Blackjacks

    1% Ottawa Black Bears

    11% Atlético Ottawa

    1% Nepean Ravens

    2% Ottawa Rapid

7% My heart is with a non-Ottawa team

Take yesterday’s poll with a grain of salt because we accidentally left out the Ottawa Titans baseball team. It was there but then it got lost when we decided to group all the teams with ‘black’ in their name together. Also, two per cent for the Ottawa Rapid is also pretty impressive considering that the women’s professional soccer team has yet to play a match.

    Today’s poll:
