Everybody breathe a sigh of relief, the strike by the Public Service Alliance of Canada members has ended. Employees will be back tomorrow or on their next regular shift. Not so fast Union of Taxation Employees – the 35,000 Canada Revenue Agency workers did not reach agreement with the Treasury Board and is still striking. Everyone else agreed to a 12.5 per cent increase in pay over four years plus a $2,500 lump sum payment. It's been estimated that employees lost $2,300 in salary while off the job. As for the other sticking point, remote work, both sides agreed to leave it out of the new contract and work together on a solution going forward. Alliance members will vote on the new agreement in the coming weeks. – Martha and Darren |
