Beware the big snow tonight

❄️ The City of Ottawa has banned street parking from 10 am Friday to 7 am Saturday to make room for the snow plows. The City has opened several parking lots to where residents can move their cars – with the proviso that they must leave at 7 am Saturday.

❄️ Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, Ottawa Catholic School Board, Conseil des écoles publiques de l'Est de l'Ontario, and Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est in Ottawa and Western Québec School Board and Centre de services scolaire des Portages-de-l'Outaouais in Gatineau are all closed tomorrow. Students and staff, stay home. 

❄️ The  613Flea Holiday Market at Lansdowne on Friday December 23 is cancelled. Vintage makers stay home.

❄️ Tomorrow night’s Sens match against the Detroit Red Wings has been postponed and rescheduled to February. Hockey players and fans, stay home.

▪️Dominion City Brewing is open with regular hours today and tomorrow, and will also be open from 11:00am to 4:00pm on Saturday December 24. 5510 Canotek Road, Unit 15 

▪️Studio Sixty Six will be closed December 24 through January 3, 2023, but you still buy fine art pieces, including some under $100, today and tomorrow. 858 Bank St., Suite 101. 

▪️Saunders Farm is closing tomorrow (Friday December 23) due to the storm. The farm will reopen December 27 and 28. Those with tickets for December 23 can use them on the 27 and 28. 

▪️The Freewheeling Craft pop-up shop at 70B Beech St. in Little Italy Is open today and Friday 12:00pm to 7:00pm and Saturday December 24 from 10:00am to 2:0pm. Find vintage homewares and cool locally made stuff. 

▪️Buy tickets to next Friday December 30th’s showdown between the Ottawa 67’s and Kingston Frontenacs.

WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT
 

▪️The Public Service Alliance of Canada is filing a labour relations board complaint over the new Federal civil service hybrid work rulesThe Treasury board has mandated that Federal workers are in the office two or three days per week by March 31. The Alliance says changing work rules while a new contract is under negotiation is illegal. [Ottawa Citizen]

▪️Sledders are still using the hill at Mooney's Bay despite the ban. City council voted against to study safe ways to use the hill last month, resulting in people using the hill any way they please. A 14 year-old girl died after hitting a pole last winter, resulting in the complete ban on sledding. [Ottawa Citizen]

▪️The Portrait Gallery of Canada is seeking space in Ottawa. The organization currently has no physical location but is interested in LeBreton Flats. [The Art Newspaper[Portrait Gallery of Canada]
