WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT

▪️The Gatineau Passport Office is triaging requests, in a new system. The Gatineau Service Canada office staff are checking airline tickets or hotel reservations and dividing applicants into travel within 48 hours, within three days, people who previously applied, and pickups. Applicants will get a ticket for the date and time they should return. [CTV]

▪️Sainte-Thérèse-de-la-Gatineau has launched a project to study Eurasian water-milfoil - an aquatic plant - in an effort to protect future tourism. The tiny town – population 520 – has partnered with Quebéc in investigating ways to prevent milfoil’s spread, including covering lakes in burlap. Milfoil rapidly spreads from lake to lake to river by attaching itself to recreational boats and spreading just under the water surface. [CBC]
