YOW! Well! It seems that people have opinions about the Ottawa airport name. In the long, 18 month life of the ottawan we have never had so many responses on a topic before. It is especially interesting as we just threw this out there – no one is actually suggesting renaming the airport. One reader wrote that there is no better name than Ottawa MacDonald – Cartier International Airport. Duly noted. Many others said the name should be Ottawa International Airport, which is clear, unambiguous, and simple; thus really quite inappropriate for Ottawa. (Darren, stop trying to milk for emails – Martha) Several others agreed with Martha's mom, and wished for a return to Uplands Airport. Martha's mom, for her part, denies that she still calls it Uplands Airport but we beg to differ. As for the rest: ✈️ Alanis Morrisette Jagged Little Airport ✈️ Terry Fox Airport ✈️ Ryan Reynolds International Airport ✈️ Algonquin International We saved the best for last: Max Keeping International Airport Ottawa. Darren had to ask, who? Martha said everyone in Ottawa knows the former CJOH news anchor, who passed away in 2015. Do you have a better suggestion? Send it in: hello@theottawan.com We'll see you tomorrow – Martha and Darren ?️ Is there something that Ottawa should know about? Email us at hello@theottawan.com. We read every single comment. |

WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT ▪️Ottawa schools are not just short of bus drivers, they are short of crossing guards as well. They are looking for about 50 more, who are paid $17/hour for, let's see, one hour’s work per day. [CBC] [Crossing Guard Jobs] ▪️City staff are recommending that Ottawa allow e-cargo bikes on the streets. E-cargo bikes are three-wheeled pedal-powered bicycles with a large cargo holder, perfect for shipping items from shops. The ‘e’ means that they are supported by an electric motor on hills.
