CORONAVIRUS UPDATE ⭕ There have been 1,969 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa, an increase of seven since yesterday, and 248 deaths, an increase of four. ⭕ Canadian Forces deployed to care homes are not tested in a systematic way. Some are tested only if they have come in contact with COVID-19, some are tested only if everyone is tested. [CBC] ⭕ Ottawa Public Health only transitioned from paper-bases system to digital at the end of April. Now that they can cross reference data, they see 60 per cent of all COVID-19 cases in Ottawa are women, 28 per cent are health care workers. [CBC] ⭕ The Provincial Patient Ombudsman has opened an investigation into long-term care, a day after the Provincial Ombudsman opened an investigation. Similar names, different people. [Ottawa Citizen] ⭕ Physiotherapists, pharmacy technicians and sonographers protested outside the Ottawa hospital for pandemic pay. Unlike other healthcare workers, the Provincial Goverenment had decided that these positions do not deserve the $4 per hour increase [Ottawa Citizen] |
