YOWch We got emails about our item on Friday that reported the Ottawa Airport had removed a bench featuring statues of Sir John A MacDonald and Sir George-Étienne Cartier, owing to the former's establishment of the residential school system. We pointed out that the airport itself is officially named Ottawa Macdonald–Cartier International Airport but try to find that anywhere on their website. And no, it has not been renamed. But without asking, readers wrote in suggestions for new names, such as: ✈️ Alex Trebek International ✈️ Sandra Oh Ottawa ✈️ Tom Green Field ✈️ Paul Anka Aerodrome There was also a suggestion to return to the airport's original civilian name Uplands, which is how Martha's mom refers to it even to this day. Do you have a better suggestion? Send it in: [email protected] Podcast update We’ve added a new podcast to our curated list, Ottawa Business Journal’s Beyond The Headlines. You can hear it and the others here. We'll see you tomorrow – Martha and Darren ?️ Is there something that Ottawa should know about? Email us at [email protected]. We read every single comment. |

The official plan, a provincially mandated blueprint for the City which indicates the areas to be gentrified, where transit will be located, what infrastructure goes where, and where new development can be built will now be discussed October 14.
