🗳️ Ontario Election

Today is election day in Ontario. You can find your polling place here. Polls close at 9:00 pm and you don’t need your voter information card if you bring some ID.

The Poll

Yesterday, we asked ‘Will you be going to Bluesfest this year?’.

23% Yes

68% No

8% No, I only like going out to see blues music.

For those those who answered with #3, don’t worry. CityFolk is coming in September, maybe they’ll have blues there.

Today’s question:

We welcome any comments ‘hello@theottawan.com’.

    WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT

    🚧 No Parking

    • A partial demolition of the collapsed parkade on Slater street was made by crews today. A decision on what else to do: demolish the whole thing or attempt to repair it has not yet been decided. Around fifty cars are still in limbo.

💥 Eastway Tank, Pump and Meter Explosion

    •  A partial ‘information to obtain’ document used by Ottawa Police to gain a search warrant over the Eastway Tank, Pump and Meter explosion has been released. Alleged negligence includes using parts that were not cleaned of flammable liquids, minimal training of staff, and employees judging if fuel tanks were empty by smell. Nothing has been proven in a court of law.

The 2022 explosion killed six employees.

    ⛳  City Wide Sports Leagues

    •  The City has opened registrations to join a City Wide sports league. Register for for spring sessions of mixed and women’s beach volleyball, women’s pickleball, and women’s softball. Or plan to play mixed spikeball in the summer and men and women’s hockey in the autumn.
