The National Remembrance Day Ceremony will take place at the National War Memorial, starting at 10:30 am. The Royal Canadian Airforce will perform a fly past between 10:50 am and 11:59 am. Those parts of Wellington, Metcalfe, and Elgin Streets, and the Queen Elizabeth Driveway near the Memorial will be closed from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm. The Stittsville Legion will be hosting a ceremony at the Stittsville cenotaph at Johnny Leroux Arena. All are welcome. A parade of veterans will march from the Stittsville Legion (1481 Stittsville Main Street) to the cenotaph at approximately 1:45 pm. Stittsville Main Street will be closed to vehicle traffic between Warner-Colpitts Drive and Abbott Street during this time. There will also be a presentation at the Cumberland Cenotaph. The Ottawa Voyageurs Walking Club will lead a group near Kind Edward Avenue during the OVO Remembrance Day Walk. Registration 9:15 am to 9:45 am inside the Champagne Fitness Facility, Lowertown. Last Wednesday, the City unveiled cours Jessie Chenevert Walk in Riverside South, commemorating the late Lieutenant-Colonel Jessie Chenevert who was one of 60 Canadian nurses to serve in the Korean War. The Canadian War Museum has a livestream of the Tomb of the Unknown soldier. The Memorial Hall was built so at exactly 11:00 am, sunlight shines through a single window to frame the tomb. Admission to the Museum is free Monday. Also on Monday, the Ottawa Citizen will publish its final ‘We Are The Dead’ profile of a soldier who died in the service of Canada. Since 2011, the Citizen has Tweeted the name of one of the 119,531 war dead each hour to the account @wearethedead. Thirteen years later, the list has been completed. In recognition of the day, THE OTTAWAN will not be publishing. We’ll see you again Tuesday. |

| – Ottawa Citizen national defence reporter David Pugliese explaining to the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security why accusations that he is a Russian asset are ludicrous. Two weeks ago, former Conservative cabinet minister Chris Alexander testified that he had seen documents that said Pugliese was an agent for the Soviet Union in the 80s. Besides repudiating the notion entirely, Pugliese says that not only was he not living in Ottawa at the time, like the alleged documents say, but that he was a ‘correspondent for a Washington publication called Armed Forces Journal which was produced for the US Army.” | | Luke LeBrun in Press Progress |

| 💥 Eastway Tank, Pump and Meter | ▪️A judge has ruled that Eastway Tank, Pump and Meter will be allowed to argue that search warrants and seizures used against it violated the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Six months after the explosion that killed six employees in January 2022, Ottawa Police Services used a search warrant to seize documents from the business. Eastway argued that the Police seized more than what was permitted by the search warrant and wants those documents disallowed and returned. | | BUT, ONE MORE THING … | While the trials and tribulations of the O Train extension have been recorded in THE OTTAWAN ad nauseam, it can seem somewhat unreal that Lines 2 and 4 will actually be opening soon. Possibly before Christmas.
In that positive vein, Rail Fans Canada has released a new video: ‘O-Train FAQ: Your Questions on Lines 2 & 4 – The Trillium Line & Airport Link Answered’. Yes, it’s okay to be hopeful.
Rail Fans Canada also posted this photo of some of the swag that will be handed out to customers, fridge magnets with the new station names and cardboard models of the new trains. | | | DAILY QUALITY CONTROL | What did you think of today’s OTTAWAN? | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great ⭐⭐⭐ Satisfactory ⭐ Needs Improvement |
