WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT |
🗳️ Osgoode |
▪️The Progressive Conservatives have nominated Osgoode ward councillor George Darouze to run in the Carleton riding. Darouze has been a councillor since 2014. The next provincial election must be held on or before June 4, 2026 but many expect Premier Doug Ford to call an election much earlier. | | CBC |
|
|
⚙️ Federal Public Service |
▪️The Ottawa Citizen asked all six Ottawa-area members of Parliament if they supported the Treasury Board’s return-to-office rules. Of Jenna Sudds, Marie-France Lalonde, Yasir Naqvi, Pierre Poilievre, Steve MacKinnon, and Greg Fergus, none were willing to make a statement. The Treasury Board has brought in Federal employees for a third day in the office, and managers must come in for a fourth day. | | Catherine Morrison in the Ottawa Citizen |

OTTAWA HISTORIC LOGO T-SHIRTS |
An Ottawa Historic Logo t-shirt would probably make a terrific Christmas or Hanukkah gift – but it’s too late.
You can order if you like – we’d never say no to a sale – but the chances of the t-shirt making it to you before Dec 23 is pretty much none. It’s a great way to ring in the New Year, though. |

BUT, ONE MORE THING … |
The latest edition of CBC Ottawa’s podcast This is Ottawa asks the question: ‘How did Adolf Hitler's car end up in Ottawa?’. THE OTTAWAN had no idea that the 1930s ‘Grosser’ Mercedes 770 W150 limousine was here, although many patrons of the Canadian War Museum did. In 1945, a small US Army unit was chasing the German army out of Laufen, when they discovered the limo on a railway flatcar and decide to go joyriding. It eventually ended up in the hands of a Montréal collector, who donated it to the museum in 1970. | | Gabrielle Huston at CBC |
