Isn't this just some swell timing. Martha is returning this evening to Ottawa from balmy Vancouver – right into a severe travel advisory.

Environment Canada is warning of hazardous conditions, high winds, sudden drops in temperature and icy roads. Take care everyone.

💥 Ottawa Carleton District School Board

• Hundreds of people turned up to last night’s school board meeting, with 75 people admitted into the room and 200 outside. Six delegations were heard by the board, the only business on the agenda. Parent Nick Morabito, who was cut off at the previous meeting, was permitted to speak and stated that his daughter and other students feel violated by the Board’s mixed-sex washroom policy. Another delegate, a former candidate for school board asked for an apology for the previous silencing of Morabito. The other four delegations spoke in support of mixed-sex washrooms. (Avanthika Anand at CBC)
  
  ➕Related The Board’s policy regarding washrooms, changing rooms, and overnight accomodation is here. It says that students can use the washroom, changing room, and overnight group they want, regardless of sex.
  
  ➕Related An Ottawa vice-principal who was part of the rowdy group outside is accused of grabbing a phone from a woman videoing the action.

📺 Stittsville on Patrol

• The final season of Stittsville on Patrol begins airing today. The comedy action series set – and filmed on location – in Stittsville will be shown on Bell Fibe. Featured this series will be former CBC anchor Adrian Harewood and The Athletic’s Ottawa correspondent Ian Mendes (Yes Mendes, Yes Mendes) covering the 1989 Pickleball Massacre. (Lesley McKay at Stittsville Central)

🏒 The Sens

• The CBC takes a look at the alternative locations of a new arena for the Senators if they take a pass on LeBreton Flats. In consideration are Bayview Yards, City-owned land near Bayview Station; Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton Park baseball stadium, although that option throws the Ottawa Titans into the street; the Hurdman transit hub; The RCMP lands; the Department of National Defense complex on Colonel By Dr; Confederation Park, and South Sandy Hill. (Joanne Chianello at CBC)
  
  ➕Related There's a rumour that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has aligned himself with the Neko Sparks bid for the Senators. And Rocco Tullio, the owner of the Ontario Hockey League's Oshawa Generals, has brought Toronto billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos into his bid. Apostolopoulos is also part of a bid to buy the National Football League’s Washington Commanders, formerly the Washington VeryRacistNames.

🛻 Convoy Court

• The judge overseeing the trial of Convoy leaders Tamara Lich and Chris Barber has been ordered to decide if she is biased. The Crown asked another judge to have Ontario Court Justice Heather Perkins-McVey replaced by an out-of-town magistrate as one of the tasks assigned to her is ruling on the credibility of a local Crown attorney. Perkins-McVey must rule whether having to make that decision will bias her her decision making and if so, recuse herself. (Aedan Helmer in the Ottawa Citizen)

• Two iconic rural retailers have passed. 
  
  In Eganville, Ron Nelson ran Strickland’s Supermarket and Eganville’s Ultimate Discount Store. He was 79.
  
  In West Carleton, Allen David Desjardins opened Woodlawn Building Supplies on Dunrobin Road. He was 83.

THE OTTAWAN SHIRTS 

A group called Migrant Workers Alliance for Change has run a guerilla campaign across restaurants in Ottawa and Toronto by placing QR code stickers on tabletops. Patrons, thinking that it is the usual menu, are taken to The Secret Menu, an advocacy site outlining the working conditions migrant workers endure to make our favourite restaurant items.
