📋 Agenda

WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT

🏠 Real Estate

🪧 Public Service Alliance of Canada

  • Charges against Public Service Alliance of Canada national executive vice-president Alex Silas  have been dropped. In February, Silas was charged with mischief and counselling an uncommitted indictable offence after he joined strikers picketing in front the Department of National Defence’s Joint Intelligence Operations Centre. The strike was settled in April. (CBC)

🚸 Children's Aid Society of Ottawa

  • Workers at the Children's Aid Society of Ottawa have gone on strike as of today. The union says the issues are increased pay and protection from layoffs. During negotiations, the union discovered the Province was planning on laying off 20 Aid Society workers. (Isabell Harder at CBC)

♿ Para Transpo

  • The Ottawa Transit Riders have released the results of its 2024 Para Transpo challenge but are perplexed about what City officials think of the service. They had an excellent participation rate of City officials riding with a regular Para Transpo ‘ambassador’.

Taking part this year were Glen Gower (chair of the Transit Commission), Joel Harden (MPP for Ottawa Centre) Renée Amilcar (General Manager of OC Transpo), Amanda Putz (CBC journalist), Natalie Helmer (OC Transpo Customer Service), Jason Ashton (Program Manager of OC Transpo), and councillors Marty Carr, Wilson Lo, Ariel Troster, Catherine Kitts, Steve Desroches, Stéphanie Plante, Matt Luloff, Theresa Kavanagh, Shawn Menard, and Jessica Bradley.

But the riders found that most did not answer its end of trip survey, so they did not get a sense of whether they found the service adequate.
