COVID-19 NEWS

⭕ The Ottawa Hospital emailed its unvaccinated staff members – but used CC instead of BCC, releasing everyone’s names. The hospital apologized and used the recall function which usually removes the emails. Around 400 staff members at the Ottawa Hospital are unvaccinated. [CBC]

⭕ The Provincial Government has set out the rules for unvaccinated school staff. Unvaccinated staff must test themselves twice per week, with at least three days between tests and no more than 48 hours before coming to work. [CBC]

WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT

▪️Video rentals are truly dead as City orders former West Coast Video shop in Old Ottawa South demolished. Long considered an eyesore – and long since closed as a video shop – the building has been empty since a fire gutted it in 2009. [CBC]

▪️Parents at École élémentaire publique Francojeunesse in Sandy Hill are upset that the school is a polling place for the Federal election. They are worried that unvaccinated voters will be on the premises while students are in class, putting the kids at risk. The school operator, Conseil des écoles publiques de l'Est de l'Ontario, does not require its own staff to be vaccinated. [CBC]

▪️The Afghan Embassy in Centretown has not shown any indication that there has been a change in Afghanistan. Their website still says Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, not the Islamic Emirate, and last week the Embassy closed for a holiday to honour an anti-Taliban hero. [National Post]

▪️The readers of Faces magazine have chosen their three best hikes around Ottawa. [Faces]

▪️Apartment 613 has run a nice history of Union Station, with lots of photos. [Apartment 613]
