⚖️ City Council

•  Orléans East-Cumberland ward councillor Matthew Luloff has been charged with impaired driving. Where and when the incident is alleged to have happened has not been released. Luloff’s lawyer, the high profile Lawrence Greenspon, says no accident was involved. Luloff was a proposed candidate for the Conservative Party in the federal Orléans riding but he resigned from that July 10. (Gabrielle Huston at CBC)

🌊 Stittsville Water Main Break

•  Avoid Stittsville Main Street today if you can. A water main break has closed the street between Abbott and Wintergreen and most businesses around it have closed for the day. The City says it may be fixed by this evening. (Councillor Glen Gower)

🏗️ Developments

•  A proposal to build one of the tallest buildings in Ottawa has been received for Barrhaven. Developers of Marketplace Towers West propose a 26 storey and a 35 storey tower, with a combined 592 apartments. Ottawa’s tallest building is The Claridge Icon in Little Italy at 45 storeys. A proposed building in LeBreton Flats is for 65 storeys. (Josh Pringle at CTV)

•  The City has announced the locations of 20 new speed enforcement cameras. The approximate locations of the first eight are:
  
  ⏱️ Cassidy Road in front of Bell High School.
  ⏱️ Gardenway Drive: the north side of Gardenway Drive in front of St. Clare School. 
  ⏱️ Main Street: the west side of Main Street between Springhurst Avenue and Evelyn Avenue. 
  ⏱️ Merivale Road: the west side of Merivale Road in front of St. Monica School. 
  ⏱️ Ogilvie Road: the west side of Ogilvie Road in front of the Beacon Learning Centre (between Kender Avenue and La Vérendrye Drive). 
  ⏱️ Old Richmond Road: the west side of Old Richmond Road between Our Lady of Peace School and St. Martin de Porres Church.

📱Presto Card

•  Unless you are in Ottawa, Presto users can now add their card to their wallet on their iPhones. This is quite useful for iPhone users, who now just need to tap their phone rather than fish out their card to take transit. But, we reiterate, it doesn’t work on Presto cards in Ottawa and only Ottawa. (Presto Card)

BUT, ONE MORE THING ...

Last week, someone brought a cat that they had found on Miikana Road in Leitrim to the Ottawa Humane Society. Scanning the cat’s microchip, the OHS found that her name is Indie, and she had been missing from her Montréal home for eight years. Her Montréal people came and picked her up, probably to Indie’s complete shock. The stories Indie could tell. But she won't. She'll refuse to tell them because she's a cat.
