🔎 Older Ottawa Plan

• The City wants to know what older people in Ottawa think so it can develope its ‘Older Adult Plan’. The survey is pretty comprehensive, asking about streets, transportation, housing, civic and social participation, and how things should be prioritized.

• The Federal government has disclosed the 22 buildings in Ottawa that it will make available for housing. The properties will not be sold but rather leased to developers.

• Campaigners Action Sandy Hill is looking for a new chairperson. The chairperson sets agendas, runs meetings, and represent the group in the media and in collaborative efforts. 🌊 Ottawa Beaches

• Huzzah! All four Ottawa beaches have been deemed safe to swim in. We didn’t intend on having a daily E. Coli update but it's proven necessary. (Daily Safety Report)

🚨 Canadian Museum of Nature

• The Canadian Museum of Nature has started checking bags after receiving a threatening email last week. The threat was part of an organized campaign which also saw Jewish organizations, shopping centres, and ports across Canada threatened as well as Ottawa hospitals. (Ted Raymond at CTV)

🎞️ Hollywood on the Rideau

• The Lifetime TV movie A Nanny’s Deadly Discovery starts filming in Ottawa next month. The plot involves a nanny who has second thoughts when she discovers the previous nanny disappeared under suspicious – possibly deadly, we don’t really know yet, but the title of the film seems to state it quite certainly – circumstances. BUT, ONE MORE THING ...

If you have been wondering what former mayor Jim Watson is up to, TVO’s Steve Paikin had breakfast with him. Watson serves on the boards of Internet company Terago and the Ottawa Community Housing Federation. He volunteers every Tuesday serving meals at the Shepards of Good Hope and he points out that other cities have had problems with their rail systems as well, so he thinks people should really cut him some slack. It’s been two years, c’mon!
