- Tonight: Harvest: A Feast of Fall is a multi-chef food and beverage experience that brings together the city's top award-winning chefs, artisanal beverage producers, and passionate foodies for a night of Farm to Table-inspired delights. All proceeds go to Youturn, the non-profit that helps the most at-risk youth, whose mission is to provide evidence-informed, individualized service to help develop the skills to become strong participating members of the community. - Ameya Charnalia at Eat The Strip tries out a restaurant blessed by the Thai embassy: Thai Lanna. Charnalia agreed with the group of women who said, as they were leaving, ‘excellent’.
- Caméline in Gatineau is the only restaurant in the Capital to make it to En Route magazine’s longlist of best new restaurants in Canada. The Italian restaurant opened in May.
- Moo Shu Ice Cream is leaving Centretown for Hintonburg, taking over the old Stella Luna location.
Thanksgiving Meals update: If you’re cooking your own turkey-centred feast, contact your favourite butcher now to order the bird: - Ottawa Street Markets is supplied with grass fed birds by Merrifield Poultry Farm. Orders must be in by September 26, and will be ready for pick up October 9, 11, and 12.
Wellington Butcher offers turkeys, ham, or prime rib roasts for Thanksgiving. A $10 deposit is required. Oktoberfest Plans Part II - Dominion City Brewing’s Oktoberfest shindig this Saturday (September 21) promises traditional games, a bierhalle fit for your most stylish lederhosen, and German-style food provided by North and Navy and Almanac Grain. Add live music and 17 taps of fine beer and you’ve got a party. Tickets from $17.31. On the same day, you can book one of two seatings at the sixth annual Orléans Brewing’s Oktoberfest event. Your ticket ($38.61) includes a free beer, a free t-shirt, prizes, games, and great music. Plus, there’s a cash bar food tent for when you get really hungry from dancing. At Beyond the Pale, no mere single day party is adequate to contain the brewery's massive Oktoberfest event; instead it's nine days of seasonal specials, German food, live music, and even a new beer launch. It's all bookended by two weekend parties. September 28 - October 6.
