| 🏠 Eastboro | ▪️All 108 buyers of houses in the Eastboro project have had their contracts terminated. The developer, Ashcroft Homes, lost the unfinished project last autumn when it when the Royal Bank put it in receivership. The potential buyers had put down deposits of $54,000 to $80,000 five years ago, which is now in the control of the receivers. Depending on how much money is available and the sale of the project the deposits may be returned but the potential buyers will not be able to purchase the finished homes at 2020 prices. | | Andrew Duffy in the Ottawa Citizen |

| ⛳ Kanata | ▪️The City has lost its appeal against a Kanata golf course owner that wants to convert the greens to housing. The former City of Kanata made a deal with a developer in 1981 that required 40 per cent ‘open space’. That developer also created the Kanata Golf and Country Club, later selling the club to ClubLink. At issue was whether the agreement meant green space in Kanata must be 40 per cent plus the golf course, or that the golf course itself could be subdivided and was not included in the 40 per cent rule. The Ontario Superior Court said it was the latter and that no-one could be forced to run a golf course in perpetuity. The City appealed this decision but has now lost. | | CBC Appeal Decision |

| 🎓 Ottawa Catholic School Board | ▪️The latest school system to have its computers accessed by hackers is the Ottawa Catholic School Board. Like dozens of schools across Canada that use the US-based Powerschool computer system, the Board says that data of all students since the 1998-1999 term may have been accessed. The Board says social insurance numbers and credit card info was not made available but names, addresses, ages, internal student numbers, and grades were. The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, and Ottawa’s public and Catholic French school boards say that they were unaffected. | | Ted Raymond at CTV |
