▪️Fierté Capitale Pride has put out a call for artists to collaborate on Capital Pride Public Art Project 2022. Submit a proposal for an artwork that will be displayed during the Capital Pride Festival August 21st to 28th. Chosen pieces will be displayed in prominent areas of the city. The deadline to apply is this Sunday, June 19th.

Number:  108. The number of years ago that the Imperial Theatre was built, which today houses Barrymore's Nightclub. The City had ordered the owner of Barrymore's to fix its facade, as boards covering old broken windows had deteriorated. The owner didn't so the City has now made the repairs and invoiced the owner. [Ottawa Citizen]

COVID-19 NEWS

⭕ The first case of MonkeyPox in Ottawa has been reported. MonkeyPox is hard to transfer person-to-person, generally requiring touching skin. The patient in Ottawa has recovered. [CBC]

⭕ New Edinburgh resident Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time. Trudeau had just returned from the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles. He previously had COVID in January. He says he feels fine as he is triple vaxxed. [CityNews]

WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT

▪️Conroy Pit will remained closed for months due to thousands of downed trees. Conroy Pit, owned by the National Capital Commission, is popular with dog walkers in the Ottawa greenbelt. [CBC]

▪️The lockdown of Parliament Hill Saturday seems to be the result of a hoax. People were evacuated from the grounds while Senators and MPs sheltered in place. Reportedly, border officers were warned that a car with explosives was in the area. Nothing was found. [CBC]

▪️Someone has been stealing plants and herbs from the Parkdale Food Centre and next door Free Cycle. And not just the plants, the planters as well. [Ottawa Citizen]

▪️Half of the traffic tickets issued during the Trucker siege have not been paid. The City says 3,812 parking tickets and 318 provincial offence notices were issued, with a value of $320,545. Only 1,600 tickets have been paid. [CityNews]
