WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT

▪️Trucker siege co-organizer Tamara Lich is free to wander around Ottawa while she awaits trial. Lich won most of her requests at a bail review: she is free to visit Ottawa nor will receiving an award for her siege actions be considered a breach of her release conditions. Lich asked to be able to use social media again, which was denied by the judge who said that as she is in her late 40s, she should ‘use the social skills she surely built up before the advent of the Internet’. [Globe & Mail

▪️Two Ottawa MPPs recommended appointing siege-visiting Robert Swaita to the Police Board – but which ones? Of four Ottawa-area MPPs, only Jeremy Roberts has refused to deny involvement. Premier Doug Ford said May 3 that he would reveal who recommended Swaita to him for appointment but has since not said anything about it. [QP Briefing
