🤖 Carleton University’s new nursing school will add learning coding and the ethical principles of artificial intelligence as an option for students. As the first Bachelor of Science in Nursing programme created in the past 20 years, school director and AI researcher Danielle Manley says ‘I don’t think there is a good future of health care without AI’.  – Elizabeth Payne in the Ottawa Citizen

⚕️  Kanata tech giant Calian has bought a company that provides paramedics and air-ambulance service to the North. Advanced Medical Solutions has been based in Yellowknife since 1995 but will transmogrify into Calian Advanced Medical Solutions Ltd within 12 months. – Ollie Williams at Cabin Radio

🤑 Ottawa ByLaw handed out 372 parking tickets during the first weekend of the Tulip Festival. Drivers should particularly watch for the ‘Special Event – No Stopping – Tow Away’ signs in the Little Italy and Dow’s Lake areas.  – Josh Pringle at CTV

🗳️ As of today, voters in Osgoode ward can check if they are registered to vote for June 16’s byelection. Until next Friday, voters can use the ‘Am I Registered Tool’ to verify or get registered. MADE IN CANADA DEALS OF THE DAY

Save 20% on leather bags and accessories, and 10% on vintage, at Erin Templeton.

Furniture starts at just $10 at the Habitat for Humanity Greater Ottawa ReStore Third Thursday Clearance Weekend. Today through Saturday, score impossible deals to redo your spaces or turn into a project. Shop online or in person at 3 Iber Road, 250 City Centre Avenue, or 768 Belfast Road.

Set your alarm for 9:55am on tomorrow morning (Friday May 16), to ready your trigger finger for the 10:00am start to the Pokoloko May Long Weekend Sample Sale. You'll find 30-80% savings while they last (which won't be long).

    BUT, ONE MORE THING ...

The Ottawa Humane Society needs to fetch 30 volunteers immediately for its Sheltering Animals From Emergencies programme. The Society had to turn away eight pets this week.

We’ve mentioned this programme before – it allows people who must leave their home for safety or medical reasons to turn over their pet to a Society volunteer until they have housing once again – and it is far better to house a pet temporarily than give it up permanently.
