▪️Nacho the kitten has been returned. Yesterday, we wrote that Nacho had been stolen from a Pet Valu in Orléans. Details of the return have not been revealed but Furry Tales Cat Rescue had put up a $2,000 reward. An adoption had been arranged for Nacho prior to his disappearance.

▪️Ottawa Hydro Holdings announces that its reorganization was successful. Back in May, Ottawa Hydro Holdings – which is 100 per cent owned by the City – decided to make some financial changes. It created two new companies, Hydro Ottawa Capital Corporation and Hydro Ottawa Energy Services Inc. It then asked its bankers and the Ontario Energy Board to approve transferring Ottawa Hydro Holdings debts from debentures to the two new companies, which has now happened.

Besides Ottawa Hydro, the similarly named company that actually provides the electricity to much of Ottawa, Ottawa Hydro Holdings also owns Portage Power, which generates green electricity in Ontario, Québec, and New York; Envari Energy Solutions, which consults and plans energy systems for governments and corporations; and Hiboo Networks, a local fibre optic Internet provider.

▪️Planned Parenthood Ottawa disinvited the Federal Mental Health and Addictions Minister over her views on Israel, the Minister says. In a letter, Ya’ara Saks says she was to visit the Somerset Street office last Friday in respect to International Safe Abortion day but was disinvited because of ‘views on the state of Israel amidst the humanitarian crisis against Palestinian peoples’.

▪️CTV Ottawa has been honoured with two regional Radio Television Digital News Association Canada awards. The Breaking News Large Market award was given for CTV Ottawa’s coverage of the Orléans explosion in February 2023. The TV Newscast Large Market award was given for the station’s coverage of the Barrhaven tornadoes in July 2023.

▪️CBC Radio listeners may have interruptions between October 6 and November 29. At 37 years old, the master transmitter at Camp Fortune for CBC Radio One 91.5 FM, CBC Music103.3 FM, Ici Première 90.7 FM, and Ici Musique 102.5 FM is being repaired and upgraded. While that is happening, the broadcast signal may just stop or be replaced with instrumental music.
