If you want to vote by mail, tomorrow is the last day to request a ballot – which is really pushing it because the ballot must reach Elections Canada by 6pm on voting day, September 20.

COVID-19 NEWS

⭕ People who attended the AfroFest Ottawa Music and Art Festival and the Shawville Fair are advised that they may have been exposed to COVID 19. Both events were found to have patrons who had COVID 19 in the transmissable phase.

⭕ The Provincial Government has been polling the public weekly to gauge the attitude of Ontario's COVID 19 response. [CBC]

⭕ Person who was fully vaccinated with Quebec-developed, experimental vaccine Medicago as part of its human trials is not eligible for a vaccine passport, as that drug is not yet approved by Health Canada. [CBC]

⭕ Mayor Jim Watson says that Ottawa Police are ready if anti-vaccine protestors crowd hospitals or harass health care workers. [Ottawa Citizen]

WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT

▪️Dog owners are upset that Lemieux Island will be closed. Construction converting the Chief William Commanda Bridge to pedestrian and cycle paths means that the dog park on Lemieux Island will be unavailable to capital canines. The National Capital Commission has refused to allocate an alternative site. [CBC]

▪️Ottawa detectives deny planting handgun and stealing $50,000.  Mohamed Mohamed is suing detectives Kirk Gidley and Michael Saunders and the Ottawa Police for for unlawful detainment, unreasonable search and malicious prosecution. He claims that he had $50,000 stolen from his apartment after the two police searched his apartment for drugs. The officers deny any wrongdoing. [Ottawa Citizen]
