HELLO OTTAWA

Sorry readers but this is officially a mini-ottawan today. Usually, we only do the mini versions during that slow period between Christmas and New Year’s Day but today is a very different reason.

We’re stuck in Montréal because of the snow storm. 

We’ll be back in Ottawa tomorrow somehow, with regular service.

    ⚖️ Afghan War Memorial

    •  The architects chosen by a jury to design the Afghan War Memorial threaten to sue. Team Daoust was chosen by the jury for the the $3.5 million contract but were told later that the Federal government had overruled the decision and chosen another designer. The Afghan War Memorial will be located on LeBreton Flats. (Daniel Leblanc at CBC)

    🚨 Ottawa Fire Service

    •  Ten kids were attended to by the Ottawa Fire Service after complaints of coughing and burning eyes. The kids were in the pool area of the Quality Inn on St-Joseph Boulevard on Orléans. The hazardius materials team found that chlorine levels in the hot tub were too high and shut it down. (Mike Lacasse at CityNews)
