GOOD THURSDAY MORNING, OTTAWA

Parliament took a look at the Government's proposed student benefits and did a good thing: they improved some of it.

The initial plan was to pay post-secondary students $1250 per month for the summer, $1750 if they had a disability or were a caregiver. Now, students who have disabilities or are caregivers will receive $2000.

Additionally, there is a plan to pay students up to $5000 for their tuition if they volunteer.

It's estmated that 1.17 million post-secondary students will avail themselves of these plans.

But for the student in your life, tell them to be patient. Details for all of this are still forthcoming and everything must be approved by the Senate, which is looking at it on Friday.

We'll see you tomorrow — Martha and Darren
