The Ottawan

HELLO OTTAWA

Here's some information to shock you awake after the weekend: Million-dollar-plus 'luxury' home sales booming in Ottawa. 1,766 homes sold for over $1 million in 2021, more than double 2020.

And it's not just $1 million homes going crazy, it's homes in the towns around Ottawa: Carleton Place is the fastest-growing town in Canada says StatsCan. Arnprior is also also going crazy.

We have nothing more to add to this – but it's probably more effective than your third cup of coffee.

We'll see you tomorrow– Martha and Darren

COVID-19 NEWS

⭕ Ontario has no plans to change the vaccine passport to three doses. While residents can print a proof of all three COVID-19 doses, the Province says that entrance to non-essential businesses will still only require proof of two doses. [CBC

⭕ The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board will start reporting COVID-19 cases at its schools on a new website. The Board was guilted into it after parents set up their own reporting group on Facebook. [Ottawa Citizen]

⭕ Cinemas will not be allowed to serve drinks or popcorn when they reopen January 31. Concessions are generally the way cinemas make their money, admission fees are eaten up by the movie rental. [CTV]
