$20.5 million |
– The damages sought by former Sens forward Alex Formenton from his also former agents for negligence, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty. Formenton alleges that if his representatives had advised and acted correctly, he would have received $20 million in salary, then and in the future, playing in the National Hockey League. Instead, he played in a Swiss league and was ineligible to play in the NHL. In a completely unrelated incident, Formenton is one of five former members of Canada’s junior hockey team charged with an alleged 2018 sexual assault in London. | | The Canadian Press |

WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT |
🏦 Banking on it |
▪️Desjardins Ontario Credit Union is closing branches in small towns east of Ottawa. The branches in Bourget, Limoges, Saint-Eugène, and Saint-Isidore will all close November 22. Closing the branches, laying off the staff, and requiring locals to drive to another town are how the Credit Union will meet ‘the needs of its members and ensure its long-term success and growth’, it said in a statement. | | Josh Pringle at CTV |

➕ Related The Scotiabank at Carleton University is removing all its tellers and replacing them with nothing. The removal of staff will ‘allow us to strengthen our focus on helping you reach your financial goals’, the bank said in a statement. |
⛸️ Rideau Canal Skateway |
▪️ The National Capital Commission lowered its ice-thickness criteria in a attempt to keep the Rideau Canal Skateway open last February. Documents show that the Commission took “manageable risks’ in lowering the thickness standard by 10 per cent. The Skateway was open for only 10 days last winter, and not in a row. The previous season, the Skateway did not open at all. | | Ted Raymond at CTV |

|
💣 Unexploded Areas |
▪️The Department of National Defence is checking out seven areas in Ottawa for unexploded ordinances. All seven areas are related to activity during the Second World War and are a reaction to the Ottawa Citizen reporting that unexploded ordinances can be found in the Bleu Mer bog. The areas being checked out are ‘the Ottawa International Airport, a location in Hintonburg, one in Little Italy, Strathcona Park, the Experimental Aircraft Association Museum in Carp, one near the RCMP Technical Operations in the east end, and Mer Bleue Bog’. The Department said that risk to the public is low. | | Natasha O’Neill at CityNews |
