HELLO OTTAWA

Weekend Plans

▪️It’s Wall Candy Expo weekend at Wesley Clover Parks. Ottawa’s artist and artisan communities will be out in force on Saturday September 11 and Sunday September 12 from 11:00am to 5:00pm, selling affordable art to suit every budget. This is an outdoor market, and will happen rain or shine. Entry is free but advance booking is necessary. 401 Corkstown Road, Nepean.

▪️There are still a few tickets left for the Saturday September 11th presentation of Escape Manor’s The Village. The immersive three hour experience includes an outdoor escape challenge experience followed by an outdoor screening of M. Night Shyamalaln’s “The Village.” Tickets costs $49 + tax and $69 + tax for a VIP ticket that gets you a beverage and popcorn and “enhanced interaction with the actors.” Snacks are available for purchase but please note they can only be purchased with cash. If you can’t make it this weekend the experience is running until October 31st.

▪️On Sunday September 12th all across Canada people will be participating in the Ovarian Cancer (virtual) Walk of Hope. This year’s fundraising goal is $1,200,000 and at the time of writing today’s newsletter 66% of that goal has been reached. It’s not too late to register, but if you can’t take part, a great way to support the event is to donate to a team or individual.

▪️The Log Farm launches its 2021 Bushels of Fun Down on the Farm program this Sunday September 12th. Running until late October, the weekly event offers families with kids 10 and under the chance to find their way out of a corn maze, take a wagon ride, visit friendly scarecrows, and learn about life on the farm 150 years ago. Note that the activities take place outside, and masks are mandatory. Tickets cost $11.97 each including fees and taxes.

▪️Also: Today (Thursday September 8th) is the final day to sign up for Dominion City Brewing’s Fall Book Club. Featuring an all-Canadian author line-up, each subscriber receives one new book and a Dominion City six-pack (including three varieties) each month for three months, as well as an item of book club merchandise.
