Just Announced / Now Booking - The Asinabka Film & Media Arts Festival 2023: Episode XII The Spirit Awakens (August 8 - 13) screens films across genres and lengths from Indigenous filmmakers from around the world. The screenings, plus curated art exhibits, workshops and panels, and music performances, will happen at the Ottawa Art Gallery, Club SAW, Gallery 101, and Berlin Nightclub. Tickets can be purchased for individual screenings and full days of programming.
- Ottawa theatre artists, mark your calendars. On August 24 the O-Town Artist Pop Up, presented by Levity Theatre and Skeleton Key, will lead discussions about finding collaborators, getting funding, and other topics of interest. At the TCTC from 6:30 pm.
- Canada’s Walk of Fame will be making a fast break to Almonte to celebrate inductee Dr. James Naismith, the inventor of basketball on August 12. The festivities start with a 3 x 3 basketball tournament followed by the ceremony at 3 pm. Naismith was born in a house on County Road 29 between Almonte and Pakenham.
