🚊 NO Train: Day 1️⃣8️⃣

Here is today’s update on the closure of the Confederation Line.

  •  OC Transpo has installed stickers at each station to identify where to board the new single carriage service presumed to start Aug 14. In today’s update from OC Transpo, the decal info is the only new item. (OC Transpo)
  •  We mentioned yesterday that a priority of OC Transpo to fix the line is to move the restaining rail. The rail will be moved ‘one or two millimetres’. (Elyse Skura at CBC)
  •  Joanne Laucius in the Ottawa Citizen outlines the various excuses to avoid compensating riders: It’s unfair to people who are not inconvenienced, the City passed a budget with a $39 million transit hole, the City is already losing $7 million per month in lost fares, why should other City departments budget’s pay for it, and who wants to raise taxes?
  •  Reader Anastasia writes to us that Montréal’s brand new REM light rail isn’t perfect. In the week since it opened, service has been stopped for a least an hour on three different days not to mention that the driverless train kidnapped a family and took them to a light rail garagethe ottawan points out that the O Train, as it stands, is not capable of kidnapping anyone at all.

Long Weekend

Monday is Colonel By Day and a provincial holiday. We’ll be taking it off and will be back our workstations on Tuesday. Enjoy the weekend.
