WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT

⚕️ Ottawa Public Health

  • A person in Ottawa who tested positive for a mosquito-born virus has died. Ottawa Public Health says the person tested positive for eastern equine encephalitis virus. The virus can be contracted by both humans and horses but only a transmission from an infected mosquito is harmful to humans. (Josh Pringle at CTV)

💸 OC Transpo

🛒 Public Service Alliance of Canada

  • The Public Service Alliance of Canada has asked its members to boycott downtown Ottawa and Gatineau businesses in its fight against the extra day in the office. The Union’s original social media post advised its members to ‘buy nothing’ but has since changed the graphic to ‘buy local’. Local, in this case, means around one’s home. (Gabrielle Huston at CBC)

⚽ Ottawa Rapid FC

  • Ottawa’s new women’s professional soccer team is taking deposits for season’s tickets starting today. The first 500 season-ticket orders will receive a signed, game worn jersey. The six team Northern Super League will start play next April. . (Don Brennan in the Ottawa Citizen)
