Summer Beer ▪️Evergreen Craft Ales released a 5.2% ABV Belgian Witbier just in time for the sunny days of summer. The brewery says “Hints of coriander and orange scent the slightly spicy yeast profile.” $3.60. ▪️Meanwhile at Whiprsnapr, a recent trip to a craft beer event in San Diego inspired the new Cali Pils, a 5% ABV Pilsner brewed with New England IPA hops. The brewery says a California Pilsner is “Incredibly bright, clean, refreshing with tropical notes, bubblegum, mandarin orange, and crisp grapefruit.” $3.54. ▪️Nita Beer Company’s Peachzilla is a fan favourite peach sour but there are limited quantities. The brewery says “Nita’s delicious Berliner Weiss kettle sour has been aged for six months with heaps of peach puree. Peachzilla is blended with lactose and vanilla for creamy mouth feel.” $5.95. ▪️Flora Hall’s contribution to the picnic table is Cascara Stout, a collab with Arlington Five and Lulo Coffee. The brewery says “We tossed a bunch of this cascara (the dried skin of the coffee cherry) into a Tropical Stout base to lend some leathery, earthy notes to a robust, rich stout, with lots of toasty and chocolatey tones.” In other news, Flora Hall is supporting the Wonderland Tea Party for Mental Health at CHEO on Sunday June 12th. ▪️Dominion City Brewing promises to bring the sunshine with DDH Mosaic Sunsplit IPA (6% ALC), saying “We’ve pushed the limits of hop flavour and intensity with this revisit of a Dominion City staple.” $5.31.
We missed a couple of items in yesterday’s weekend rundown. ▪️Freewheeling Craft’s Preston Street Market returns on Sunday June 5 in the parking lot behind Preston Square (33 Preston Street). ▪️Vintage PopUp613 brings the Parking Lot Pop-Up to the corner of Preston and Louisa. The sit down dinner runs from 4:00pm until the food runs out, at 30 Rosemount Ave. ▪️The 2022 Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival has launched with a virtual component running until June 21st and, for the first time since 2019, live programming from June 18th to June 26th. Featuring workshops, performances, educational opportunities, and a marketplace, the festival’s new home is Mādahòkì Farm at 4220 West Hunt Club Road. The 2022 Festival is co-hosted by Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK), putting the spotlight on Inuit artists and performers. Deals of the day ▪️The 20% off sale at West of Main has been extended. There are a few exclusions, but nearly everything from investment furniture to mantle accessories is on sale. We think the Wilmington Gold Candlestick will lend a cool antique vibe to any table. ▪️West End Kids Warehouse has lots of sale items at the moment, and there will be an additional 20% off sale and regularly priced items this weekend. We'll see you Monday – Martha and Darren ? Is there something that Ottawa should know about? Email to us at hello@theottawan.com. We read every single comment. |
