• Dominion City is popping up by the Canal for one night only this Friday (August 23). In a collab with Gitanes Burger, the brewery will be hosting a Beer Garden from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm, with sweet tunes from DJ Evil Calum starting at 7:00 pm. Be at Queen Elizabeth Driveway between Frank and Waverley to soak up the late summer vibe. 
• Matings is pulling out all the stops for the Barbecue Platter Party at Broadhead Brewery on Wednesday September 4. Choose from one of two seatings and get ready to fill your boots (and tummy) with fan favourites like pulled pork, smoked brisket, Mac ’n’ cheese, and some new treats. $10 per ticket, which will be deducted off your bill at the end of the night. 
• Although the warmer weather is staging a comeback this weekend and into next week, it won’t be long before Fall settles in for good. The excellent brains at Vodkow present the return of London Fog Cream Liquor ($34.95), made from cream, vanilla, lavender, and earl grey tea; just the thing to keep you warm in cooler temperatures.

🚨 Bomb Threats

• The Ottawa Hospital, the Queensway Carleton Hospital, and the Montfort Hospital as well as 100 ‘Jewish institutions’ received identical bomb threats this morning. The hospitals remain open but are being swept by Royal Canadian Mounted Police teams. B'nai Brith Canada says 100 synagogues and community centres received the email at 5:00 am this morning. 🌊 Ottawa Beaches

• Petrie East Bay closed today due to high levels of E Coli but the other three City beaches are open. Same as yesterday. We didn’t intend on having a daily E. Coli update but it's proven necessary. (Daily Safety Report)
  
  The NCC Riverhouse Swimming Dock is also still closed today because of water quality.

🦟 West Nile Virus

• Ottawa Public Health is reminding people to protect themselves against mosquitoes after a second person has tested positive for West Nile Virus. West Nile virus usually will not result in symptoms but 20 per cent of people will experience flu-like symptoms, which can become serious in one per cent of those contracted. Ottawa Public Health has found 14 mosquitoes with West Nile virus this year, a ‘notable’ increase. (William Eltherington at CTV) 

⚕️ Safe Consumption Sites

• The Somerset West Community Health Centre supervised drug consumption site will close next year after a new announcement by the Province. Ontario Health Minister Sylvia Jones said all safe consuption sites within 200 metres of schools or child-care centres must close by next March. The new rule will close ten sites across Ontario. (Elizabeth Payne in the Ottawa Citizen)

🌈 Capital Pride

• The City of Ottawa is the latest organization to withdraw from the Pride parade after Capital Pride issued a ‘Statement in Solidarity with Palestine’. The City says that operational support for the August 25 parade will not be affected. (William Eltherington at CTV)
