GOOD WEDNESDAY MORNING, OTTAWA

Bon appétit, it's Canada Takeout Wednesday.

We have some suggestions for today or this week or something for mum on Sunday.

? Eat this. According Foodland Ontario, local rhubarb and asparagus should be available at stores and via virtual farmers’ markets now. Also available: apples, carrots, potatoes, radishes. You’ll also see the following, from the greenhouse: cucumbers, lettuce, peppers, strawberries, and tomatoes. [Ontario Farm Fresh]

? Beer news. As of today, Vimy Brewing has restocked their online store with cans of Vimy Red ale and Vimy Pale Ale varieties. [Vimy Brewing]

? We’re all screaming for it. Britannia’s Beachconers make dreamy ice creams from scratch, in crowd pleasing flavours like lime basil smash, peanut butter and chocolate, and maple. Non-dairy options are also available. Open Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 4pm at Britannia Coffee House, 273 Britannia Road. [Beachconers]

? Not a baa-d idea. Pinelopi’s Greek Kitchen features a lamb burger with tzatziki sauce every “take-out Wednesday.” It comes with fries, or you can pay $2.85 extra for “Feta Oregano French Fries” to max out your Greek flavours [Pinelopi]

Don't forget, you can find local restaurants doing delivery or takeaway from Canada Takeout Restaurant Finder, Local Eats Ottawa, Apartment 613, Together Apart and SavourOttawa.ca. Remember: the name-brand delivery services take 30 per cent of the restaurant's money, so if you can, go direct.

We'll see you tomorrow — Martha and Darren

PS For the past month, we have often linked to the excellent Ottawa website Apartment 613. But we kept calling it Apartment 13. Reader Ted wrote in asking why we did that. We did it for no reason at all! Just a brain freeze. Our apologies to Apartment 613.
