WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT |
🔒 The Province has appointed an administrator to run the Ottawa Carleton District School Board. In a press release, the Province said ‘The OCDSB has completely depleted its reserves, incurred an accumulated deficit, and plans to use unsustainable proceeds from asset sales to balance its books’. Supervisors were also appointed today to oversee the Toronto District School Board, the Toronto Catholic District School Board, and the Dufferin-Peel Catholic School Board. – Sadeen Mohsen in the Ottawa Citizen 🌉 A City Councillor and a local Member of Parliament both say that the proposed sixth crossing across the Ottawa River is not appropriate. Beacon Hill-Cyrville ward councillor Tim Tierney says the real problem is truck traffic and what the city needs is a ring road. The Member of Parliament for Ottawa-Vanier-Gloucester, Mona Fortier, agrees and says that Public Services and Procurement Canada did not consult with the Provincial department of highways about what was needed.
⚕️ Papineau Hospital in Gatineau has closed its operating room indefinitely due to an inability to sterilize equipment. Patients and staff, as well as emergency room service, has been transferred to Gatineau Hospital. – CBC 🚶♀️ Vankleek Hill has launched the Tourism Trail, an ‘online, self-guided tour of unique businesses, points of interest, parks, and historic sites in Vankleek Hill and the surrounding area’.
