🚊 NO Train: Day 🔟

Here are today’s updates on the closure of the Confederation Line.

  •  OC Transpo made a public update this afternoon:

    • Eight single-car trains are still planned to resume on Monday, serving every station. (No change)

    • Six carriages are still being re-inspected. The other 37 have already been checked. (One other is out of service). (No change)


    • OC Transpo and Rideau Transit Group are creating a final plan for a safe operations document.

  •  Video – The CBC rode with an Orléans resident who commutes to downtown everyday. Using the R1 Rail Replacement Bus, it took two hours. (CBC)

✂️ Correction

Contrary to the inaccurate info we published yesterday, True Loaf is open on July 29th and are ‘making a lot of bread to stock up our customers before our break’. They close for a break July 30th to 9th inclusively.
 

🗳️ It’s Voting Day in Kanata – Carleton

Polls are open for the byelection for a new Member of Provincial Parliament for Kanata – Carleton. 

Here is a rundown of the candidates.

    • – Casselman resident Stephenie LaMaina on paying $5,000 for filtering equipment and still receiving yellow municipal water.     🚨 Nation River Cold Case

    🏗️ Developments

    •  The developer of a denied 16 storey building in Hintonsburg is appealing to the Ontario Land Tribunal. Developer Minto’s request to raise the height limit from six storeys was turned down by the City. The Hintonburg Community Association and the Petro Canada station across the street will be opposing Minto at the hearing, with the Association opposing the plan because it would encourage more tall buildings. We don’t know what the owner of the gas station’s problem is. The development would demolish the old Elmdale Theatre. (Kitchissippi Times)

    🏎️ Stolen Cars

    •  An eagle-eyed Ottawa police officer noticed a Ferrari and a Range Rover being loaded into a shipping container on Ramsayville Road, and he found some stolen carsThe Ferrari was stolen from Toronto, the Range Rover was stolen from the Peel Region. The 2010 Ford Fusion we parked on Ramsayville Road this morning still seems to be there. (CTV)

    ✈️ Ottawa International Airport

    •  An Arnprior couple bought a return flight to Fort Lauderdale. The airline had no idea what they were talking aboutThe couple bought the May flights from Flair Airlines. When they showed up to fly, there was no flight and Flair staff told them there was no such flight. The airline fought the couple for two months before making a refund. (Nicole Williams at CBC)
