    • Artist and CHUO programme director City Fidelia is partnering with Montréal’s Stan Lukoki and Toronto’s Public Records to launch the House of Ensemble record label. The Ottawa-based label will specialize in rap and hip-hop. (Shifter Magazine)

    💸 Money Back

    • An Ottawa law firm that transferred nearly $1 million to fraudsters will get its money back. Fraudsters had gained access to the email system of McGuinty Law Offices and using fake names sent the proceeds of a real estate sale to four different bank accounts. The TD Bank reversed three of them but the fourth account owner objected and would not allow the refund. An Ontario Supreme Court judge ordered the money returned. (Aedan Helmer at the Ottawa Citizen)

    🖊️ Petition

    • The petition to remove Ottawa Carleton District School Board trustee Dr. Nili Kaplan-Myrth has been taken down at the Board’s request. Petitioners were asking for the removal of Kaplan-Myrth after the acting Board chair cut off a parent during a public meeting and called the police. The Board said the petition was hate speech.     🗳️ Resignation

    • Kanata-Carleton MPP and cabinet minister Merrilee Fullerton has resigned with immediate effect. The Minister of Children, Community and Social services was Minister of Long-Term Care in the early days of the pandemic. She has not given her reasons for resigning.     🚨 Fired Fighter

    • After a City investigation, an Ottawa Fire Services fire fighter who was charged last September with assault for choking, aggravated assault, criminal harassment and forcible seizure against a rookie has now been fired. Meanwhile, the station Captain was charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm for not letting the rookie seek medical attention. The Captain has now been suspended for three days for not reporting the assault.
