• The 25 year-old sprinter at the University of Laval has been selected as the female U Sports athlete of the Year by the Canadian Athletic Foundation. Leduc will receive a $5,000 scholarship for postgraduate studies. (Donna Spencer in the Canadian Press)

• New Ottawa Night Mayor Mathieu Grondin, whose appointment was announced this morning by Mayor Mark Sutcliffe. Grondin says that he is ‘beyond humbled and excited to stand before you as Ottawa's first-ever Nightlife Commissioner’.
