⭕ Ringette

  •  Ottawa will play host to the Canadian Ringette Championship in 2025. The Championship was supposed to play here in 2020 but COVID 19 put paid to that. The Championship was here last in 2007, but the once independent township of Gloucester played host in 1990 and 1996. (Martin Cleary in Ottawa Sports Pages)

✈️ Ottawa International Airport

  •  Mayor Mark Sutcliffe said he met with airline executives in England to encourage new overseas routes from Ottawa. Currently, only Air France offers a non-Americas international route, flying to Paris daily. The mayor did not say which airlines that he met with. (Josh Pringle at CTV

🏠 Heritage Homes

  •  The Ontario Land Tribunal has upheld the heritage designation of a Highland Park home. The Tribunal ruled that the 100 year-old house did not have any unique architectual value but it helps define the character of the area. The owner had received the approval of City staff to demolish the property but council overruled them.  (Andrew Duffy in the Ottawa Citizen

💉 Federal Public Employees

  •  The Federal Labour Relations Board has ruled that suspending unvaccinated Federal public employees was not ‘disguised discipline’. In October 2021, the Treasury Board required Federal public employees to vaccinate with a COVID 19 vaccine or be put on leave without pay. Two employees took the Treasury Board to tribunal, arguing that the suspension was actually a disciplinary action. The Labour Relations Board disagreed and ruled it was an ‘administrative measure’. The vaccine mandate was repealed in June 2022. (Andrew Duffy in the Ottawa Citizen)
