💰 Federal Public Employees
- Treasury Board President Anita Anand says every department will be involved in cutting 5,000 employees, not just the small ones. Yesterday’s Federal budget said that 5,000 Federal jobs would be cut through attrition. (Canadian Press)

- City Council approved assigning Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group's architect responsibilty to make plans to demolish and replace the grandstand and rebuild the TD Bank Arena. Council also approved a $20 million line for credit for the Group. (Blair Crawford in the Ottawa Citizen)
➕ Related Documents show that the City was aware in 2020 of urgent issues with the concrete in the tunnel at the St-Laurent O Train station. Chunks of concrete fell onto the tracks in January.
🚨 Ottawa Police Service
- The Ottawa Police Service is planning to ‘blitz’ ByWard Market this summer over crime. When their new office opens in May, the Service plans to target ‘hot spots’ and ‘high harm offenders’ with ‘highly visible patrols’. (Marlo Glass in the Ottawa Citizen)
🚧 Parkdale Avenue
- The on and off ramps of the 417 at Parkdale Avenue will soon be closed for a few months. The eastbound on-ramp to the 417 at Parkdale will be closed April 28 until August 25, the eastbound off-ramp will be closed from April 29 until May 14. Kitchissippi ward councillor Jeff Leiper posted details on his website, noting that the City has not yet made this public. The Ministry of Transporation is closing the ramps for roadworks.
