💰 Federal Public Employees

  •  Treasury Board President Anita Anand says every department will be involved in cutting 5,000 employees, not just the small ones. Yesterday’s Federal budget said that 5,000 Federal jobs would be cut through attrition. (Canadian Press)

🚨 Ottawa Police Service

  •  The Ottawa Police Service is planning to ‘blitz’ ByWard Market this summer over crime. When their new office opens in May, the Service plans to target ‘hot spots’ and ‘high harm offenders’ with ‘highly visible patrols’. (Marlo Glass in the Ottawa Citizen)

🚧 Parkdale Avenue

  •  The on and off ramps of the 417 at Parkdale Avenue will soon be closed for a few months. The eastbound on-ramp to the 417 at Parkdale will be closed April 28 until August 25, the eastbound off-ramp will be closed from April 29 until May 14. Kitchissippi ward councillor Jeff Leiper posted details on his website, noting that the City has not yet made this public. The Ministry of Transporation is closing the ramps for roadworks.
