The 🌺 National Remembrance Day Ceremony will take place at the National War Memorial, starting at 10:30 am. The Royal Canadian Airforce will perform a fly past between 10:50 am and 11:59 am.
Those parts of Wellington, Metcalfe, and Elgin Streets, and the Queen Elizabeth Driveway near the Memorial will be closed from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm.
The Stittsville Legion will be hosting a ceremony at the Stittsville cenotaph at Johnny Leroux Arena. All are welcome. A parade of veterans will march from the Stittsville Legion (1481 Stittsville Main Street) to the cenotaph at approximately 1:45 pm. Stittsville Main Street will be closed to vehicle traffic between Warner-Colpitts Drive and Abbott Street during this time.
There will also be a presentation at the Cumberland Cenotaph.
The Ottawa Voyageurs Walking Club will lead a group near Kind Edward Avenue during the OVO Remembrance Day Walk. Registration 9:15 am to 9:45 am inside the Champagne Fitness Facility, Lowertown.
Last Wednesday, the City unveiled cours Jessie Chenevert Walk in Riverside South, commemorating the late Lieutenant-Colonel Jessie Chenevert who was one of 60 Canadian nurses to serve in the Korean War.
The Canadian War Museum has a livestream of the Tomb of the Unknown soldier. The Memorial Hall was built so at exactly 11:00 am, sunlight shines through a single window to frame the tomb. Admission to the Museum is free Monday.
Also on Monday, the Ottawa Citizen will publish its final ‘We Are The Dead’ profile of a soldier who died in the service of Canada. Since 2011, the Citizen has Tweeted the name of one of the 119,531 war dead each hour to the account @wearethedead. Thirteen years later, the list has been completed.
